About Kaohsiung
Located in southern Taiwan, Kaohsiung is a dynamic harbor city where urban life, waterfront scenery, culture, and nature come together. Once known primarily as an industrial and port city, Kaohsiung has evolved into a vibrant destination with revitalized waterfront districts, contemporary architecture, creative spaces, and a growing arts and cultural scene.
Visitors can discover many sides of the city—from the scenic Love River and Sizihwan Bay to the historic neighborhoods of Zuoying and the lively atmosphere of local night markets. Kaohsiung is also surrounded by mountains and the sea, offering a unique combination of metropolitan convenience and outdoor experiences.
Getting around the city is easy with its MRT and Light Rail Transit (LRT) network. A ride along the LRT is an excellent way for first-time visitors to explore Kaohsiung’s waterfront and some of its most popular attractions, including Pier-2 Art Center and the Kaohsiung Music Center.
With its warm climate, relaxed atmosphere, diverse food culture, and welcoming character, Kaohsiung offers plenty to discover beyond the conference. We hope you will take some time during your stay to experience the city and enjoy the distinctive charm of southern Taiwan.
Kaohsiung City
Exploration
As part of the 2026 ASIA Congress, ASIA members are invited to join an optional city exploration program and discover two distinctive sides of Kaohsiung—from the cultural and religious heritage of historic Zuoying to the vibrant waterfront of this modern harbor city.
